  • Superficially engaging and charming

Signs in Infants

  • ​Inappropriate use of crying

  • Listlessness with no medical reason (depression)

 

  • Limited holding onto or reaching for caregiver

 

  • Lack of appropriate stranger anxiety 

 

  • Minimal interest in interaction with people

 

  • Not smiling back or not responding to smiles or baby talk

 

  • Not following human movement with their eyes

 

  • Lack of eye contact

 

  • Self-abusive behavior (head banging, self biting, hair pulling...)

 

  • Resistance to physical touch (stiffness when hugged)​
