Attachment is the bond that develops between a child and the caregiver when the infant is repeatedly soothed, comforted, and cared for, and when the caregiver consistently meets the child's needs.

It is through attachment that children learn to love and trust, to be aware of other peoples' feelings and needs, to regulate their emotions, and to develop healthy relationships and a positive self-image.
